On 2 October 2026, diesel in Britain passed £2 a litre for the first time. The trouble had begun seven months earlier, in a strip of sea most people had never heard of.

When the United States and Israel struck Iran on 28 February, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz fell from about 68 ships a day to three. Oil nearly doubled in price, fell back, then nearly doubled again. Your fuel, your flights, your mortgage and your energy bill followed, each on its own delay. Some of the bill still hasn't arrived.

War and Your Wallet 2026 follows the money from the battlefield to your kitchen table. It is written in plain English, with every figure sourced and side-by-side panels for readers in Britain and America.
